Level 1 Maker Pen class is a 8 week long class that teaches you the basics of the Maker Pen! If you are a newcomer to the Maker Pen or a player trying to reintroduce themselves to the Maker Pen, this is the class for you! We strive to deliver the best class for newcomers to the scene! Joining this class means that once completed, you wil possess the knowledge to create what you want and hopefully make amazing rooms in the future!
Create Tasks are massive collaborative activities with the whole class. Making amazing creations with everyone involved!
Finals are your EOC assignment with you at the forefront! Make anything your heart desires to graduate!
These aren't your standard quizzes, these are fun and interactive game shows! Two teams battle it out in the spirit of learning!
Schedule:
Level 1 Maker Pen class is 8 weeks long, (including final projects)
Classes will be on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Each class will be an hour and 15 minutes long.
The class will go from 5:00 PM EST - 6:30 PM EST

Day One:
Introductions, split students into two groups experienced and non-experienced
Visit maps, for inspiration, and see what students can do with the Maker Pen.
Go over tools and then shapes. Teach ink costing for all shapes.

Day Two:
Visualize ink costings on shapes. (10 mins)
Dissect two different objects and explain why they cost the ink they do (10 mins)
Going over basic CV2 gadgets button, piston, rotator, clamp, emitter, sfx zone. (25 mins)
Going over settings with remaining time.

Day Three:
Wrapping up Day 1 and 2 if needed.
For 15 min build warmup, build a Rec Room prop.
Teaching animations (20 mins)
Competition with students on animation (Rest of Class)
Answering any building questions from previous days (15 mins).

Day Four:
How to fill out a room, what’s missing, how do I fill it up better? (15 mins).
How to fill room with an actual room (Rest of Class)

Day Five:
Ink Management (15 mins)
First Room Build with the students to see what skill level they are at.

Day Six:
Going over lighting, show images of maps that emphasize lighting (20 mins).
Going over SkyDome lighting, fog chip, sunlight chip, and background objects chip in a Maker Room (20 mins).
After the students have learned this, show examples of good skydome lighting. (10 mins).

Day Seven:
Learning basic tubes. Going over everything including, settings, shapes of tubes etc. (40 mins)
If remaining time, remake the original RR prop students had made from the past, but now in tubes.

Day Eight:
Going over Tubes++ (15 mins).
Teaching sphere, tube, diamond, and sphere tube terrain techniques. (30 mins)
Trees and Various Nature (15 mins)
Remaining time students build a certain type of terrain. (End of Class)

Architecture (10 mins)
Various Architecture styles and tricks! (10 mins)
Aesthetics (10 mins)
What is an Aesthetic? (10 mins)
Styles of Aesthetics (15 mins)
What Aesthetic is yours? (10 mins)
Create Task inside classroom (End of Class)

Go over basic wiring (15 mins), basic logic (15 mins), events (10 mins), math (15 mins), audio player (10 mins), volumes (5 mins)
Workshop that makes a button count upwards (15 mins).

Catch-up Day
Finalizing any previous material and answering any questions.
If no questions, workshop day! Teachers will lead a simple workshop allowing students to learn anything they want!

Teaching room set up and how to manage it. (30 mins)
Going over community commerce. (25 mins)
Game Show Quiz (over everything!!!)
Students are evenly divided and answer questions
Winners get a prize!!

Day Fourteen:
Students build a home together for the full hour.
Students will lead themselves through the project, but teachers will be on standby to give advice/help.
Talk about final projects, and the details including that. (10 mins)

When are classes?
Classes are 5:00 EST - 6:30 EST. These times listed dynamically change depending on your time zone!
I submitted a signup form but I want to change my response/withdrawal.
Get in contact with either Volastic or A_LoaF and we will be more than happy to withdraw or change your response!
Are screen-mode players allowed into the class?
Yes, of course! Our only requirement is an active mic throughout class!
How do I know if I got in?
We will post an announcement shortly after signups close with details of who got accepted!
When I submit, do I get into the class?
No, once signups close we will go through every response and announce who got in in #announcements!
How can I check what time classes start for my time zone?
As said in a previous question, the timeframes listed in any message will dynamically change depending on your time zone.
What if I have to miss a couple of classes because of school/personal reasons?
We have a strike system in place. If you have to miss class because of school or personal reasons, consider not signing up. You can attend regardless but you may be kicked out if it happens too frequently.
How will I join the classes once I'm a student?
We post unlisted events that you must select "Going" on for attendance reasons.
Am I able to be a teacher?
We aren't looking for teachers right now.
Who am I able to DM when I have other questions?
You are able @ any teachers anytime you have other questions, do not hesitate!
